Message on Hold Equipment

Walsh Media, Inc. offers two great ways to play your message on hold! The WM1100 and the TeLink 700.  The biggest difference between the two units is how the message is implemented: either played directly from a USB flash drive (WM1100) or downloaded via a telephone line (TeLink). Give us a call at 800-359-6158 to learn more!

USB_MOHInstructions for installing the WM1100:

1. Mount the unit to a clean, dry surface using the screws supplied with your WM1100 or apply the non-marring feet to the bottom of the WM1100.

2. Using the supplied cable, plug one end into one of the AUDIO OUT spots and the other end into your telephone system’s message on hold jack.

3. Plug in the power cable to the WM1100 and an available electrical outlet.

4. Place the USB flash drive into an available slot on your computer. Either transfer what’s currently on the USB flash drive to your computer or delete it. Then copy the message on hold that you want playing onto the USB flash drive (note: whatever is on the USB flash drive will play, even if you have more than one message on hold production on the USB flash drive). After it’s done copying, unplug the USB flash drive from your computer and plug it into the WM1100.

5. Verify that everything sounds ok by calling into your phone system and be put on-hold. Adjust the volume of the message by turning the volume knob.

Troubleshooting:

My message is not playing.

1. Verify that all cords are securely fastened.

2. Verify that power is getting to the unit by looking at the unit’s LED light. If it’s off, there isn’t any power to the unit.

3. Verify that the USB flash drive is securely in the unit.

4. Verify that an MP3 is located on the USB flash drive.

My message is playing, but sounds distorted.

1. Verify that all cords are securely fastened.

2. Try lowering your volume.

3. Try switching between the 8Ω and 600Ω AUDIO OUT connections.

There is more than one message on hold playing.

1. Take the USB flash drive out of the WM1100 and plug it in to an available slot on your computer. Delete the message that you don’t want playing. Unplug the USB flash drive and plug it back in to the WM1100.

telink_700aInstructions for installing the TeLink 700:

1. Use the screws and rubber feet (supplied in the accessory kit) to wall or shelf mount the unit.

2. Connect the supplied grounding wire from the SURGE GND terminal to the building’s electrical ground (in older models, there isn’t a “SURGE GND” terminal).

3. Connect a RCA cable (supplied in the accessory kit) to the OUTPUT jack on the rear of the unit. Depending upon the required impedance use either the 8Ω or 600Ω output RCA jack. Connect the other side to the MOH port on the phone system (in older models, there is only 1 RCA output jack to plug the RCA cable into. If needed, switch the knob from 8Ω to 1KΩ or vice versa).

4. Connect the incoming analog telephone line to the LINE IN (in older models, this is the “TELCO” port) then connect the LINE OUT (in older models, this is the “PHONE” port) to a phone or fax machine, if desired.

5. Attach the included power pack to a wall or power strip receptacle, then attach the other end to the jack on the rear of the unit labeled 12VDC.

6. Call into the phone system and be placed on hold to fine tune volume. Adjust the volume level using the up and down VOLUME buttons on the front of the unit.

Troubleshooting:

My message is not playing.

1. Verify that all cords are securely fastened.

2. Verify that power is getting to the unit by looking at the unit’s LED light. If it’s off, there isn’t any power to the unit.

3. If the LED is blinking slowly, there’s no audio on your unit. Please contact your Project Manager at Walsh Media to have your message on hold downloaded.

My message is playing, but sounds distorted.

1. Verify that all cords are securely fastened.

2. Try lowering your volume.

3. Try switching between the 8Ω and 600Ω (or 1KΩ in older models) OUTPUT connections.

The unit does not answer Walsh Media’s call.

1. Verify that all cords are securely fastened and that there is power to the unit (the LED should be a solid light).

2. Verify that the telephone line that’s connected to the LINE IN (or in older models, TELCO) is a working analog line (The TeLink will not pick up on a digital line).

3. If a fax machine is connected to the TeLink’s LINE OUT (or in older models, PHONE) port, power off the fax machine while a download takes place.

4. If steps 1-3 don’t work, try moving the unit and power cord to a different analog line & give Walsh Media the phone number to the line.

5. If steps 1-4 don’t work, your unit’s modem may have been damaged. Contact your Walsh Media Project Manager for a replacement unit.
